Water-resistant refers to an item’s ability to resist the penetration of water to some degree. This means that water won’t be able to get inside the item easily, but there is still a chance that water will get through at some point. Water-resistant offers only a moderate level of water protection. Most water-resistant cases are a little more lightweight than a waterproof design. |

The IP marking for International Protection or Ingress Protection is followed by two numbers. The first number designates its ingress protection against solids, such as dust with numbers ranging from 0 to 6 (the higher the number, the better the protection). When you see a 6 for the first number, then the product is dust-tight, which means it’s completely protected against contact with dust. Having this rating can be important for manufacturing, mobile workers or any user that wants to use their device in dusty environments.
